Our Story

Hello! 👋 My name is Andrew Bruce, I'm an engineer, tinkerer and recent entrant into the cat community. The inspiration behind CATSUMO began when my parents, who were sailing in Greece, fell in love with a feral kitten they couldn't leave behind and decided to bring her back to the United States to gift her to me and my girlfriend. When she arrived here in San Francisco 🌉 , we named her Kleio, after the Greek goddess of music—because, much like the goddess, Kleio is full of energy, rhythm, and a bit of playfulness that’s impossible to ignore.

After a few months of living with Kleio, her high energy and constant desire to play led me to purchase a hand puppet to wrestle with her. She loved it! The puppet became our go-to toy, but over time, the playful battles took their toll—her claws would sometimes pierce through the fabric, and my forearms bore the scratches to prove it. That’s when it hit me 💡—there had to be a better way to engage in this exciting, interactive play without the pain!

And thus, CATSUMO was born—a wrestling puppet designed specifically for cats.
