Seven Catnip Pockets!
Fresh Catnip, Zero Mess

600D Oxford Nylon
A lightweight, flexible, woven fabric commonly used for outdoor gear, sporting goods, and bags.
CATSUMO
vs. Karate Kitty
We put both on the table, filmed them together, and measured them with the same tape. Here's everything we found — the parts that flatter us and the parts that don't.
All footage and photos on this page were shot in one sitting — same room, same light, same camera.
We've been at this a while
The wearable sumo cat puppet is our idea, and we've been refining it since 2024. We'll let the dates speak for themselves.
One sleeve holds its shape. One folds.
Both stood on the same table, each with a hand resting on the head and nothing at all supporting the sleeves. Ours holds a full round cylinder from the belt all the way down — that's the 600D Oxford nylon doing its job. Theirs pinches and twists in the middle under the weight of its own puppet.
This matters more than it looks. A sleeve that keeps its shape holds a gap between your forearm and an excited cat, and it stays open so you can get in and out mid-session instead of fighting fabric that's collapsed around your wrist.
Same table, same moment, treated identically. Look at the two sleeves, not the hands.
A needle goes through one of them
The needle stands in for a claw or a tooth — the same thin, hard point your cat brings to a wrestling match. Pressed into the CATSUMO sleeve it stops: there are several layers between the point and your arm, the outermost 600D Oxford nylon. Pressed into the Karate Kitty sleeve it passes through the single layer of soft fabric.
If you're wearing one of these to keep your forearm out of the fight, that's the difference that matters.
Their fabric is described as “veterinarian grade.” There's no such standard — no body certifies it, so there's nothing in the phrase you can actually check. We'd rather name the material and show you the test.
How much of it actually moves
Same shot of each, same distance, same length of clip. Both worn, both being worked as hard as we could work them.
4 paws + mouth
Fingers go into all four paws and the jaw, so the whole puppet moves independently.
2 arms + head
Per their own instructions: thumb and pinky on the arms, middle finger for the head.
Seven pockets, and refills that don't make a mess
Catnip goes stale fast once it's been opened, squished and slept on — which is usually why a cat "gets bored" of a toy. So we built seven sealed pockets into the Wrestler and sell pre-filled refill bags that drop straight in.
7 pockets — 4 paws, 3 in the mawashi
Every one of them shown in a single take. More pockets means more places worth investigating, and swapping a stale bag for a fresh one takes seconds with no loose catnip anywhere.
Where the catnip goes on theirs
Pictured on the retail unit we bought. Refill packs aren't offered as a separate product.
Same tape measure, both sleeves
Laid flat, opening measured across. A wider sleeve fits more forearms and leaves room to move once you're in it.
Measured flat across the opening.
Same tape, same method, same sitting.
Both figures are the readings off the tape in the photos above — same tape, same method, both sleeves laid flat. There's a full fit guide on the product page if you want to check yours before you buy.
Come wrestle your cat.
Seven catnip pockets, four moving paws, a mouth that opens, and a sleeve built to take it. If your cat doesn't get it, you've got thirty days to tell us so.

Comparison photographed and filmed 9–10 August 2026 using one retail Karate Kitty unit purchased through their website. If any of these sound familiar, you've found their match:
- Turns your hand into a chew toy during play
- Bunny-kicks anything they can get their paws on
- Has energy to burn and no feline sparring partner
- Terrorizes their siblings and needs their own outlet
- Is a kitten learning the world through their teeth
- Gets the zoomies and needs somewhere to put it
Many reviewers describe a 1–3 day warm-up period. Leave CATSUMO on the floor near your cat's favorite spot before introducing it as a puppet. Let them sniff, rub, and explore it on their own terms first. Once the catnip and crinkle ears do their job, most cats come around.
CATSUMO is designed to fit most adults comfortably. The protective sleeve measures 28cm (~11 inches) long and 17cm (~6.5 inches) wide (laid flat), which accommodates forearm circumferences up to approximately 32cm (12.5 inches).
Quick fit check:
- Measure the widest part of your forearm
- If under 32cm (~12.5 in): comfortable fit
- If 32–36cm (~12.5–14 in): snug but wearable — you'll feel the sleeve
- If over 36cm (~14 in): the sleeve may not reach your elbow
Two ways to play:
- Fingers in the paws and mouth— full puppet control, all four limbs and mouth move, more interactive. Less protection in the paw area if your cat bites hard.
- Palm in the body only — maximum protection across the whole puppet. Limbs move naturally with your wrist, less articulation.
